It always does the soul good to get your hands dirty and spend time outdoors. Our members are able to recreate a memory of something that was once loved and feel an accomplishment, purpose, and overall feelings of content.

OCC OFFERS A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS & THERAPIES FOCUSED ON TREATING THE MIND, BODY, AND SPIRIT:

Music has a way of bringing emotion and memories back to the person. It isn’t unheard of to see someone who has lost their ability to speak recall a favorite song and sing along with the tune.

Cognitive Engagement is an innovative program that utilizes  history, conversation, and photography to expand conversations, promote critical thinking, and increase memory retention. Members also increase their social skills and the ability to express their thoughts. Research shows that those with Alzheimer’s disease, traumatic brain injuries, and other situations can actually

improve speech and memory. Oakwood Creative Care proudly utilizes the Alle Learning Program.

Members enjoy making tutus, quilts, and other treasures for foster children at Helen’s Hope Chest.

Members can be found at Feed My Starving Children or sending packages to soldiers overseas.
