It’s Time To Learn, Laugh, And Create!

Enhancing a person’s quality of life means we look at the whole person, who they used to be, and who they are today. At Oakwood Creative Care, we celebrate the individuality of every person, their past experiences, and provide them with the tools needed to flourish and cultivate their strengths and interests. Receiving a diagnosis plays a pertinent role in defining the situation at hand and what comes after is the most important stepping stone in looking to the road ahead.

Although dementia affects the brain’s ability to transmit messages, impacting functions of memory, emotion, and communication, every person living with dementia still craves the experience of creativity and variety while settling into their normal routine.

Mixing the opportunities to learn, create, and laugh is exactly the recipe needed to foster a foundation specifically formulated to engage and encourage our senior community. Over the past five years, Oakwood Creative Care and ALLE Learning have partnered to research and develop a new and innovative program that does just that, called Engaging at Home.

At Oakwood Creative Care, we celebrate the individuality of every person, their past experiences, and provide them with the tools needed to flourish and cultivate their strengths and interests.

Giving Love, Compassion, And Validation

This at-home engagement program brings forth love, compassion, and validation to those affected by dementia and their families. By removing simplistic, child-like activities and instead replacing them with programs built to offer stimulating cognitive, creative, wellness, and expressive sessions, Engaging at Home enables everyone — families and carepartner teams included — to feel loved, valued, connected, and, most of all, respected. We believe cultivating positive life experiences should not have to end at the time of diagnosis; therefore, the design behind Engaging at Home is reflective of the individual needs and interests of every person.

With the mission of engaging and inspiring our dementia community, this immersive and holistic learning approach offers something for everyone through an abundance of fun, intriguing, creative activities and ways for the whole family to participate.

With both a Lifelong Learning and Wellness & Fitness library of activities with narrated videos, easy-to-use materials, and 24/7 unlimited access to all online materials, Engaging at Home’s membership program grants the flexibility needed for participants to experience cognitive stimulation, creative therapy, improved wellbeing, and better quality of life, all at their own pace, on their own time, and from the comfort of their own home.

With the mission of engaging and inspiring our dementia community, this immersive and holistic learning approach offers something for everyone!

An Engagement Opportunity For Everyone!

This well-rounded and innovative creative care curriculum utilizes adult language and terminology to enable participants to feel respected, allows participants to make their own choices, inspires moments of recall, reflection, and validation, encourages engagement and interaction with other adults, taps into different parts of the brain, generates new ideas, promotes critical and creative thinking, and celebrates accomplishments.

Even more importantly, Engaging at Home is an open service to all and offers wonderful and priceless opportunities for families and carepartners to partake in each activity alongside their loved ones, revisit favored sessions, and take the time to pause for moments of conversation, reflection, and connection.

Enables participants to feel respected, inspired, validated, encouraged, creative, and accomplished!

Begin Fostering Lifelong Experiences Today

Though the road ahead might often seem bleak and the general standard for care offers little treatment beyond a pill, Oakwood Creative Care believes in the possibility of cultivating positive life experiences, even after diagnosis. Seniors living with age-related cognitive and physical challenges are growing and fostering new lifelong experiences each day. Through Engaging at Home, we look to ensure all participants and their families have the opportunity to experience real moments of creativity and joy while feeling valued, loved, connected, and respected

Welcome

We're a nonprofit organization based in Mesa, Arizona with three senior day club locations (and a fourth on the way) which serve older adults with Alzheimer's, dementia, Parkinson's, and various other physical or cognitive challenges. Life does not end with a diagnosis. Our members continue to learn new skills, enjoy new discoveries, make friends, laugh, and live a joy-filled life. Our team of dementia experts lead support groups, events, classes, and private sessions with caregivers and families, guiding them on the best methods to care for their loved ones while also caring for themselves.
